Templates

A web template is a predesigned webpage that you can customize. It consists mostly of CSS- and HTML-codes; it defines your fonts, tables, graphics and style.

The goal of the template is to make your webpages pleasant for the eye. If you click here you can see this page without a template.

There are basically four ways to obtain a template: by paying an online marketing agency, by using a website builder, by downloading an existing template, or by designing your own.

Online marketing agency
This is the fastest and simplest way to obtain a template, but also the most expensive way.

Website builders
Website builders are what I would like to call all-in-one websites: webhosting, domain name, different templates to choose from and a WYSIWYG-editor to change the template as you please. If you already have a template in mind and all the necessary content, you can have your website up and running in a few hours.

Downloading
You can download a template in your code editor and make the necessary changes to the template. You can choose between a free or pay template. I must warn you, it is not possible to make a lot of changes to the templates. The designers made the templates for the sole purpose of promoting their work, not to be reproduced. There are designers who are willing to give support; this may be the case if you have paid for a template. If you are considering paying for a template, it would be wise to read the terms of agreement beforehand. I myself use the templates as a source of inspiration to design my own templates.

Design your own template
Building websites has become a hobby of mine and this includes designing templates. To do this you will need a HTML- or WYSIWYG-editor. You will need to be a little creative, but, as stated before, there are a lot of templates on the internet that you can use as inspiration.
